SYTOP Achieves Major Breakthrough in Cobalt Alloy 6K Rolling Process​

December 5, 2025 – SYTOP has announced a significant breakthrough in Cobalt Alloy 6K (ST 6K) rolling technology. For a long time, cobalt alloy 6K rolling technology has been monopolized by a handful of international enterprises, with very few domestic manufacturers capable of mass production. As a core grade of high-carbon cobalt-based alloy, ST 6K is an important material for extreme working conditions, such as industrial cutting and scraping, due to its high carbon content of 1.0%–1.4%, excellent wear and corrosion resistance, and high-temperature edge retention. The rolling process, as a processing method for this material, has been globally validated for its technical maturity. Through continuous pressure processing, it significantly enhances material density and stability of mechanical properties. While the rolling process itself is mature, domestic enterprises with large-scale production capabilities have been scarce for a long time due to technical barriers. These challenges include the narrow hot working window caused by Cobalt Alloy 6K’s high-carbon properties and the tendency to generate microcracks during rolling. Previously, domestic demand for ST 6K rolled products was almost entirely met through imports, which not only incurred high procurement costs but also posed risks, including unstable supply chains and long delivery cycles.

After extensive technical research, SYTOP successfully overcame the core production challenges of ST 6K rolling. The company introduced a mature rolling process system and optimized equipment configuration and parameter control to align with customer needs. It has established a full-process quality control system covering raw material pretreatment, precise hot rolling temperature control, and finished product inspection, enabling stable production of rolled sheets. The product performance fully meets international standards, maintaining stable mechanical properties and edge retention that satisfy the long-term operational requirements of harsh working conditions.
